Local event alert! I’ll be reading close to home on beautiful Savary Island with Grant Lawrence and Marty Mitchinson. Music by Jill Barber et al and beer by Townsite Brewing, whose seasonal blackberry wheat must be tried before it’s all gone. August 23, Rigger’s Pub, 2 – 4pm.

Two Eating Dirt events are lined up this summer. One in beautiful Canmore, the other (yay!) local, at the famously fun Sunshine Coast Festival:

CANMORE Thursday, July 19, 2012
The Banff Centre presents Literary Journalism at Communitea | 7:30 pm
1001 6th Avenue | 403.678.6818

SECHELT Friday, August 17, 2012
Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts | 10:30 am
The Rockwood Centre | 1.800.565.9631

Festival and Day passes for the Sunshine Coast fest are sold out, but at the moment tickets are still available for individual events. UPDATE: I’m told the Sechelt event on August 17 is expected to sell out, so if you’re planning to attend advance tickets are best.
